We have been growing Honeygold for around 40 years. The fruit is medium to large and very round with yellow skin that develops a bronze-red blush on the sunnier facing side. It has crispy yellow flesh that is sweet with good juice, similar to its parent Golden Delicious. This tree is tough, being listed as hardy to temperatures at least -40C°/-40F° or colder. This tree bears annually, and heavily. While not generally known as a cider apple, Claude Jolicoeur has used it for cider and finds it high in sugars with an ideal level of acids. Honeygold apples are a popular choice for eating fresh, as well as for baking and cooking. The fruit holds its shape well when cooked, making it a good choice for pies and other baked goods. Honeygold apples are also often used in salads, as their sweet and tangy flavor adds a nice contrast to savory ingredients. Perhaps best known for being falsely identified as one of the parents of the highly-regarded Honeycrisp, but well loved by many.
