Sweet Sixteen is an apple that begins green and becomes striped and blushed with red. It has flesh that is orange-yellow in colour, and a texture that is crisp and juicy. The flavours in this apple are said to have hints of cherry before becoming fully ripe. As it ages, notes of anise, bourbon, vanilla, nuts, and spices are detected, resembling the flavour profile of one of its parent apples, Frostbite. The tree is extremely hardy into zone 3 and has remarkable disease resistance. It can keep for 2 months in common storage but up to 4 months in a controlled atmosphere.
