Corn Hill Nursery Bailey Sweet

Bailey Sweet

$39.00
CONTACT FOR AVAILABILITY

Zone 4 - Perry, New York. ca. 1800 - Standard rootstock

Fresh Eating
Mid-Late season

Parentage: Unknown
First grown in the town of Perry in Wyoming County, New York sometime around 1800, Bailey Sweet was probably known as Patterson Sweet, or Chillicothe Sweet and was never commercially important. Most were grown in home orchards by those who favored sweet apples. The fruit is round and slightly conic and medium large in size. The skin starts as a clear yellow becoming nearly completely blushed with deep red and noticeable white lenticels. The fruit and leaves are susceptible to scab, so precautions will need to be taken if you want clean fruit. It is perhaps the sweetest apple we have sampled with very little acidity for balance. It’s light yellow flesh is juicy and moderately crisp.
